Market Watchers Take Note of Letter to Virginia Governor Calling for Halt to Atlantic Coast, Mountain Valley Gas Pipelines

Initially reported by GJEP the Governor attempted to delay its release

Arlington, Virginia- After Global Justice Ecology Project (GJEP) reported on August 16 that a letter by Governor Northam’s Environmental Justice Committee called for a halt to the Atlantic Coast, Mountain Valley pipelines due in part to its disproportional impact on poor and minority communities, market watchers are now reporting on the letter and its significance.

S&P Global and Seeking Alpha, both market based reporting platforms, reported on the letter.

After the GJEP initially reported on the letter, Governor Northam did his best to claim that the letter was not final, although members of his own committee claimed that it was.  At the time GJEP Executive Director Anne Petermann criticized the Governor’s attempt to dismiss the letter and called for the state’s chief executive to take meaningful action.

“It is clear that the Governor has been unsuccessful in dismissing the letter from his own advisory committee calling for the halt to the ACP,” stated Anne Petermann.  “Even though the state’s chief executive may want to bury his head in the sand, socially conscious investors need to take action.”
